Meet the founder of HB Advocates

Hayley Baker, a Nashville, Tennessee attorney who has always been marked by advocacy where injustice exists, founded HB Advocates in 2022. HB Advocates was born out of Hayley’s passion for justice and drive to call out wrongs, both which long preceded her legal career. 

During law school Hayley discovered her passion for litigation and watched how litigators from her hometown in Arkansas zealously went to bat for her family’s small business against a large corporation. As a result, she was drawn to every opportunity she could for trial, advocacy, and moot court experience. 

After law school, Hayley spent a year in Northern Uganda, assisting Ugandan attorneys, social workers, and investigators in fighting for widows’ property rights and representing young victims of domestic violence. From her Ugandan colleagues, Hayley learned the importance of taking an empathetic, trauma-informed approach where clients and witnesses have gone through such disturbing experiences. From her clients, Hayley gained insight into the great resilience, patience, and strength it takes for a survivor to stand up to an oppressor and a system that so often favors the powerful. 

After multiple years at a preeminent boutique litigation firm in Nashville, Hayley discovered the civil side of the law is oftentimes the best option for holding wrongdoers accountable, making progress, and aiding injured parties in their path toward healing. After seeing countless men, women, and children in her life and in the south sexually assaulted by wrongdoers who were getting off scot-free, the vision of HB Advocates was born. Our mission is to provide a safe space for victims to explore and pursue their legal options when they are sexually harassed or assaulted.
